Island Paradise
The Abaco Club on Winding Bay
Having traveled to hundreds of golf destinations in the past 12 years producing television features on Great Golf Destination the Abaco Club on Winding Bay provided a respite from the ordinary. Every activity from the beach to the golf course was truly exceptional. Accommodations and dining superb. Here’s a little overview of the club and the area.
The Abaco Club on Winding Bay offers more than two miles of pristine power soft beaches, stunning turquoise waters and a multitude of activities from championship golf to deep sea fishing and a full-service spa-and all managed by The Ritz-Carlton.
The Club’s 534 oceanfront acres offers an oasis of elegance in a pristine, natural setting of such magnificence: it is described by Town & Country magazine as “conjured out of jungle and rock.” Like the authentic Scottish link-style golf course, the beachfront Cottages are on unexpected find in such a place; yet, somehow, both the Italian marble and the Scottish links’ seem entirely at home here.
The island of Great Abaco sits peacefully and discreetly amidst an array of colorful cays, tranquil bays and white powder-soft beaches. Pleasant warm climates tempered by gentle sea breezed can be found year-round, with temperatures ranging from the high 70’s and 80’s in the fall and winter seasons and 80’s to low 90’s in the spring and summer.
With its own private terminal at Marsh Harbour Airport for those flying private avation, The Abaco Club embraces visitors with an immediate feeling of luxury and well-being, combined with the distinct spirit of Caribbean island culture. Great Abaco is the second larges island in the Bahamas, where each day is a new exploration with cays, protected sea reefs, deserted beaches, cozy island settlements, local villages and fertile fishing grounds.
The charming village of Marsh Harbour, the largest on Great Abaco Island, is the island’s hub for a variety of quaint shops, full-service marinas and medical facilities adding to this indisputably unique island and its superior surroundings.
